This product specification describes the compute product available to users over the pan-net.cloud portal. It contains the specification for the commercial compute product as well as the free of charge evaluation product.
DT Cloud Services offers cloud computing services based on the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) model. An OpenStack-based cloud environment (project) can be instantly provisioned in one of DT Cloud Services’sEuropean datacenters using the pan-net.cloud ordering process in the portal.
Instances (virtual machines), as well as related networking and storage components, can subsequently be provisioned using OpenStack APIs through a graphical user interface (Horizon) or from command line.
A compute package represents an OpenStack project with certain configuration options and additional services.
The number of virtual CPUs (vCPUs) as well as gigabytes of memory and storage can be defined flexibly in the ordering process.
The compute package can be configured within these ranges:
The standard processing performance is ideal for day to day computing needs. It supports use cases such as web-serving, back-office applications, databases, development environments and more at an optimal cost/performance ratio. DT Cloud Services cloud offers a variety of instance (virtual machine) flavors with different vCPU to RAM ratios with standard processing rates. After the provisioning of a compute package via the pan-net.cloud portal, instances from the publicly available flavor list can be created instantly. More details, as well as the list of available instance types, can be found here.
The block storage service provides persistent block storage which can be attached to instances (virtual machines). In case a virtual machine is terminated the persistent disk is kept and can be attached to another virtual machine. It also features the possibility to create new persistent disks using snapshots. The standard block storage for virtual machines is based on a combination of HDD and SSD storage nodes.
DT Cloud Services operates datacenters in Europe which are compliant with DT standards and organized in a geo-redundant location concept. The compute package can be provisioned in a selection of datacenters which is offered during the ordering process.
The compute package includes two public floating IP which can be assigned to the network to enable internet connectivity.
Once the ordering process is concluded, the provisioning of the compute package will start automatically. The access credentials for the OpenStack environment (project) are provided via e-mail. Once connected to the OpenStack project, the provisioning of instances, networks and storage components can start using GUI (Horizon) or CLI.
OpenStack APIs can be accessed through a GUI and dashboard, CLI or a RESTful web-based interface. These are the main services:
DT Cloud Services offers 24/7 support for compute packages.
More information about DT Cloud Services as well as user guides and tutorials can be found in the Documentation. (Link).
Upon successful ordering, the user receives ane-mail confirmation. The date when the e-mail confirmation for an active compute package is sent to the user is regarded as the official start of the billing period (product start date).
Billing is performed daily for resources requested and provided to the user. The user is billed for the total amount of resources requested and provided regardless of whether the user is or was actively using those resources (is/was running workloads).
The minimum billing period is one day. For each day the compute package existed (had status ”active“) the daily rate is charged for the resources provided.
In case of a confirmed breach of the Service Level Agreement (SLA) for the compute package, service credits are granted in the following billing/invoicing cycle.
Invoicing is done quarterly (January, April, July, October). Each invoice includes 3 billing months.
Invoices must be paid in the total amount stated and within a defined period (15 days upon receipt). A partially paid invoice is regarded as non-paid.
Modification of an ordered and provided compute package is not possible by the user (e.g. changing the sizing).
A modification by the user can be achieved following these steps:
Note: In this case, the user is charged for two packages at one point intime. In any case, the user must ensure a sufficient workload backup whilsttransferring from the original to the new compute package.
Each compute package that is ordered under the compute product can be deleted flexibly by the user. The deletion becomes effective immediately and the status of the compute package changes to “deleted”. The deletion of individual compute packages does not impact the general subscription to the compute product.
The evaluation product offers the opportunity to test and familiarize with the cloud computing services of DT Cloud Services free of charge for a limited period.
An evaluation package represents an OpenStack project with certain predefined configurations and services.
The number of virtual CPUs (vCPUs) as well as gigabytes of memory and storage per evaluation package is defined as follows:
Each organization can order a maximum of 10 evaluation packages during the validity period. Once an evaluation package is used, the total number of available packages (10) is decreased accordingly.
All 10 evaluation packages can be ordered/used during a period of one year from the date on which the organization was registered in the pan-net.cloud portal.
The evaluation packages can be used with or without a signed Business Offer (for the general use of pan-net.cloud services) between an organization and DT Europe Holding. The signing of a Business Offer at a later stage does not prolong the overall validity period of one year of the evaluation packages.
The evaluation package can be combined with paid/non-paid/test products.
The standard processing performance is ideal for day to day computing needs. It supports use cases such as web-serving, back-office applications, small-medium databases, development environments and more at an optimal cost/performance ratio. This can be tested free of charge with the evaluation packages. DT Cloud Services cloud offers a variety of instance (virtual machine) flavors with different vCPU to RAM ratios with standard processing rates. After the provisioning of an evaluation package via the pan-net.cloud portal, instances from the publicly available flavor list can be created instantly. More details as well as the list of available instance types can be found here.

The evaluation packages are free of charge. An invoice is not provided.
Each evaluation package ordered under the (compute) evaluation product expires after 3 months from the date of the order confirmation e-mail. The product status on the portal changes to “deleted” and can no longer be used.
Each evaluation package can be deleted flexibly in the Portal by the user. The deletion becomes effective immediately and the status of the evaluation package changes to “deleted”. A deleted evaluation package, regardless of the number of days used, is counted as one used package and reduces the overall amount of 10 evaluation packages.
